Your Presentations are SO Boring... 5 Steps to New Slide Engagement

All too often we DON’T hear this actual feedback as most people viewing your slides won’t tell you the truth. Viewers of your decks are not usually comfortable sharing critical feedback… but I can assure you some if not all may be thinking it. We have all heard the term death by Powerpoint.

If you are sending someone a static document slide deck only, it’s may not be enough to move the needle. If you want real feedback and engagement with it, an interactive video presentation is one great way to achieve this.

Below we are sharing two interactive video projects that we’ve produced for clients in the past. The version below was shot on a green screen background so that she could be layered over the presentation deck. What looks hard can be quite simple to produce. So before you plan to only send a document deck, think video first!

Interactive Video Slide Presentation on Greenscreen

By creating a video using green or blue screen, editors can easily remove the background giving you a clean and professional impression. Plus if you are a dynamic presenter you will really make those slides come to live over video. Here are the simple steps to create them:

1. Build your Powerpoint PPT , Google Presentation or Keynote slides in advance, export them as images. Or create record in presentation mode with transitions. Be sure to use less words and more images, graphs, tables over text on screen.

2. Write you presentation script and practice it outloud and make sure to be standing up for more energy

3. Record yourself presenting it in front of a green or blue screen (based on colors you are wearing, or brand colors). Be sure to use your hands to point at areas on slides.

4. Upload the video recording and the slides (as images) for professional editing or try at home

5. Edit in the slides with exact progression timing and adding text titles and captions onto it. For this one editors removed the background and changed to a clean white.

For this example the video editing was completed in the cloud with our partner PitchHub.com from their on-staff professional video editors and script production tools. Be sure to use our discount code to check it out today!

INVESTOR PITCH DECKS

In the second example a startup company wanted to create an interactive slide deck to share with potential investors anywhere in the world. So instead of flying around the globe to present live, you can now share one video presentation with with them. In this example, the video link was not public for all to view, it was only available upon request by vetted potential investors.

To apply this video process simply shoot on a real live background, not green or blue screens. Overlay the video again in the editing to match the timing of the slide progression. Adding in titles and captions will really make it shine for viewers.

Pro Tip: Make a custom introduction to the recipients and they will be floored!
